A coalition of Dallas based organizations is collectively presenting on February 21, 2020, the Dallas LGBTQ Global Symposium on equality and human rights. A diverse group of LGBTQ and ally presenters will highlight Dallas’s rich history of moving from openly opposing to vocally championing human rights and equality.
The coalition includes the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, the Embrey Human Rights Program at Southern Methodist University (SMU), the Cox School of Business at SMU, Resource Center, North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. This engaging program provides an extraordinary opportunity to support Dallas and its diverse communities as they take their place on the world stage in promoting global equality and human rights awareness.
Feb. 25th: LGBT+ Professionals Headshot Happy Hour
All LGBT+ and allied professionals are invited to network, drink, and have a new headshot taken at Ebb & Flow Bar! Come mix, mingle, and meet other LGBT+ professionals. Then, jump in line to have our photographer snap a quick professional headshot for you. These headshots are perfect to update your LinkedIn profile or other social media platform.
This event is hosted by the Dallas LGBT+ Bar Association (“DLGBTBA”), but open to ALL LGBT+ or allied professionals. In honor of Thanksgiving, the Dallas LGBT+ Bar Association (“DLGBTBA”) invites you to join us for a morning of community service with the Breakfast at Cathedral of Hope (“BACH”) Program. BACH is an ongoing program of Dallas Hope Charities aimed at serving community members in need, such as those experiencing homelessness. We will meet at the Cathedral of Hope cafeteria to welcome guests and serve a sit-down breakfast to anyone who could benefit from a fresh, hot meal. Following the event, volunteers are invited to gather for a networking brunch at a nearby restaurant (TBD then).

24th: Roadways to the Federal Bench: Who, me? A Bankruptcy Judge?

In an effort to improve diversity in the bankruptcy bench and bar and the federal bench in general, the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System is hosting a simultaneous, nationwide event occurring live in 19 cities, including Dallas where it will take place at the Belo Mansion (2101 Ross Avenue), open to all. Following a panel webinar from Washington, D.C., attendees will participate in an hour of “roundtable” discussions, where judges sitting at your table will talk about their roadways and answer your questions. Every fifteen minutes, the judges will move to another table, so you will meet up to 8-10 judges in just one hour. Registration opens September 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. CT. There will be limited space, so availability is on a first-come, first registered basis. No charge, but you MUST register.
